Ikoi No Ie opis

Featuring kimono and tea ceremony experiences, the completely non-smoking Ikoi No Ie is 1 km from JR Kyoto Train Station. It offers Japanese rooms with tatami-mat floors and traditional futon beds.

All rooms at Ikoi No Ie Hostel include air conditioning and an electric kettle. Some rooms have a private bathroom. Most rooms feature free wired internet or free Wi-Fi access. Towels and yukata robes can be borrowed at an additional fee.

The hostel is a 10-minute walk to Higashi Hongan-ji Temple and Nishi Hongan-ji Temple. Gojo Subway Station is a 3-minute walk away. Nijo Castle and Sanjusangen-do Temple are about 2.5 km away. Rental bicycles are on offer.

An internet station is available, for a fee. The free-use kitchen has a microwave, kitchenware and a small oven that can toast bread and such.

Ryokan style hostel in local neighbourhood is authentic Japanese experience
Inexpensive Japanese Ryokan style hostel with small room, tatami mats and futons. Room had small, efficient private bathroom. Location in local neighbourhood near train station makes this a very unique immersive Japanese experience. Everything is the same from when we last stayed there in 2009.
Confirmation info needs to be updated to specify that keys must be picked up at a Ryokan two blocks away. Futon mattresses are thin, so hip joints can become sore from direct contact with tatami mat (add towels underneath to fix this).

Good place but really bad bedding and restaurant never available.
The staff was very nice. Location was good, 5 minutes from the subway. It's a nice place... but there's definitely some caveats.
I asked to go to the restaurant literally every day I was there and literally every time was told they were full and I couldn't go. A bit ridiculous. The bathrooms are behind a sliding door with the door and walls not going to the floor or ceiling. A bit difficult for the shy. But most of all the futons are just really, really bad. That's my big toe in that picture. The 2 futon mattresses are as thick as a toe. And that's without anything laying on them. It was basically just laying on the floor. Reception is a few blocks from the actual rooms and there is no warning of that so here it is. I was there 3 days and guided no less than 3-4 different parties to reception that were lost and couldn't find it, even with the map I'm posting here.

Decent price, good location for the festival.
Bad air conditioning, couldn't find the room even with a map and directions. The map was wrong.
